Creating a Character

Welcome to our MUD! Whether you're new to text-based games or just new to our world, this guide will help you get started on your adventure.

When you first connect to the game, you'll be prompted to log in or create a new character. If you're starting fresh, you'll enter our CHARACTER GENERATOR (CharGen):

• Type NEW then press the enter key, follow the prompts to create your character.
• Pay attention to the options for race and class -- they'll shape your gameplay experience!
• At any point, use the CREATION channel in CharGen to see if someone is available to help.

Once you've created your character, you'll begin in the Newbie Area, where you'll find our MUD School. We highly recommend completing MUD School as it provides:

• A walkthrough of the game's commands.
• Tips for survival and gameplay.
• Tips for survival and gameplay.
• Information on the unique features of our MUD.

Movement Basics

The world of Tirradyn is vast, and you'll navigate it by typing movement commands. Here's a quick guide:

Cardinal Directions

• N: North
• E: East
• S: South
• W: West

Diagonal Directions

• NE or T: Northeast
• NW or R: Northwest
• SE or G: Southeast
• SW or F: Southwest

Using the Number Pad

If your keyboard has a number pad, you can use it for quick movement:

• 1: Southwest
• 2: South
• 3: Southeast
• 4: West
• 5: WHO (displays who is online)
• 6: East
• 7: Northwest
• 8: North
• 9: Northeast

Customizing Your Experience

Many players use a MUD client to play, which allows you to set custom keybinds for movement and commands. The following clients are commonly used: MUSHclient and gMUD, with more advanced players using TinTin++ that has more coding capabilities. Whichever you choose, check your client's documentation to personalize your controls for faster gameplay.

Getting Help

If you're ever unsure of what to do while in the game:

• Type helplist keyword for possible in-game instructions.
• Use OOC channel or QUESTION channel to ask questions and receive answers from our players.
• Reach out to Newbie Helpers (they have yellow *'s) or Staff -- they're always happy to assist.
