General Physical Description & Biology

Huge and bulky creatures, Orcs seem to be built for strength and combat. Their muscles have twice as many fibers as other races, making it easier for them to gain bulk and strength in muscle. They are tall, between six and seven feet, but some have been larger. They have thick skin that comes in varying shades of green, gray and leathery looking browns. Some have striping on their skin or mottling and splotched of color variation. Male Orcs tend to be quite hairy, with thick hair on their chests, arms and legs, however, they can't grow beards. They have long tusks much like those of a boar and their teeth are jagged and sharp. Their ears are pointed much like those of an elf. While brutish and build for strength, they are not stupid. Their increased musculature is hard on their internal organs, making them susceptible to heart failure or other internal organ failure.

Basic Personality

They value strength and might above all else. They are considered war-like due to this trait. Most train for strength since their biology makes it easy for them, but do not mistake this strength for lack of intellect. There are those among them who are quite crafty and smart. Often, there Tre those who supplement their physical strength with magical strength. Due to their shorter lifespan, they live fast and hard and try to procreate to fill their ranks with strength and might. They drive to make themselves and their tribes stronger with each passing generation. They tend to neutral or evil alignments depending on their tribal structure as many of them do deal with slaves and act as war mercenaries in times of need. Many outsiders brand them as evil for their tendencies.

Origin and Lore

It is said that Orc were long ago elves that were corrupted by the dark magic and strength of Druugal. Whether or not this is true is a matter of debate. Others believe they are part Boar part Troll due to their tusks. What is known is that they have been around for a long time- though not as long as some of the more ancient races like giants and elves. There have been many Orcs that have earn a place in the annals of history. Most tribes would prefer to be left alone, but they have been know to create raiding parties as well to gain powerful objects and wealth for the tribes. There is rumor that they have some of the strongest weapons in the realm, stolen or won through battle.

Naming Convention

Their names tend to harsh, hard syllables that can be either long or short.
Examples: Druugal, Ghaskaa, Katlego, Akkevesk

Preferred Habitat

None, they form tribes where they can bending the environment to them instead of the other way around. Their self-sufficiency makes them very adaptable.

Society Structure

Orcs organize themselves into tribes, usually with a chieftain or chietainess. They value strength above all else and the chieftain is generally considered the strongest among them. Male or female, leaders in Orc society earn their place. They have a strict hierarchy with the strong and sly at the top- those who can win battles and the weak at the bottom. Below them, are the slaves. Those who have either lost in battle or have chosen servitude to protect their lives. The tribes usually fly under the banner of the most capable among them. These tribes organize together and will often form larger enclaves under the banner of a Grand Chieftain. Most tribes also have a spiritual leader who acts as a shaman- generally a cleric or druid who holds sway with nature or the Gods. They revere their ancestors and the strength that came before them, believing that this lives on in their spirit and their blood. Mages are not unheard of among Orcs either. Combined with their natural strength, a orc mage is a formidable enemy.
