Code Update Release Notes: 12/27/25

Bug Fixes
  1. Fixed an issue where relogging into a linkdead character could crash the mud.
  2. Added guards against scrolls being invalid and crashing the mud.
New Features
  • New feature added: `autorelic` toggle that will now muffle relic XP gaining spam.
    • When you gain xp, you will get ONE message that says your worn relics gain XP.
    • When your relics reach max level, you will get one message letting you know how many have reached max level.
    • Edit: Reaching max level with your relics displays only one message with how many have reached that level.

Code Update Release Notes: 12/26/25

More features and adjustments have been made for both stability and user access. We are committed to making your experience on the MUD one you can enjoy. Please let us know if you run into any issues as well.

Bug Fixes
  1. Fixed a bug crashing when a virtual room (such as tents) also were destroyed in relation to a player's character.
  2. Fixed a bug that a temporary character was pointing to a NULL room.
  3. Fixed a screen reader bug where the targets were coming across as symbols in wiznet.
  4. Stability issues and patches, along with many unseen backend touch ups.
New Features
  1. Relics: Relics now gain RPXP along with the player when worn, much like normal XP when killing a mob.
  2. Subclass setting: Staff members can now seamlessly set a subclass when needed in game.
  3. Quest timers: When quest timers are disabled they will now display timers so players can see how long they may enjoy the benefits.
    • Quests are reset for anyone online when timers are disabled.
    • Quests are reset for anyone logging in during this time as well.
  4. Creation weapons: Adjustment to creation weapon selection at creation.
    • All classes now have a set list of relic starting weapons based on useability for their class.
    • Monks will skip this selection screen but automatically now receive starter relic handwraps.
  5. OLC menu adjustments: OLC menus now clearly display when something is toggled on/off to help with readability, especially for screenreader

Code Update Release Notes 12-24-2025

We have rolled out a lot of changes and fixes along with our transition to a new server. If you find anything, please let us know and we will resolve it.

Bug Fixes
  1. Post Office Duplication fixed. Letters sent offline shouldn't crash the game.
  2. Tents should no longer duplicate.
  3. Artifacts should no long wipe out inventory and items on a player.
  4. Protections have been added on death; inventory duplication and swap should no longer occur.
  5. Fix Death issue on subclasses that caused crash.
  6. Doorway bug fixed making the doorway hidden and unusable.
  7. Forwarding immreqs no longer crashes the game.
  8. Fix for Poison Immunity/IRV 20- will now prevent poison damage.
  9. IRV will no longer make you totally immune to RPDamage, default to 19.
  10. Multitrain or MT now properly updates stats.
  11. Switch will no longer allow the switched mob to wander.
  12. Other clean up and fixes on staff commands.
New Features
  1. Accounts: This feature will connect all your characters under a single account. You can still log in multiple characters.
    • Allows a player to swap DT between characters.
    • Allows a player to edit a character without logging into the game.
    • Screenreader, colormode and prompts can now be toggled across an entire account
    • The last 5 news posts can be read from account
    • Helps can be read from account
    • Creation channel can be accessed from account for help
    • Separate will be applied to all characters account wide
    • AQUIT will allow you to quit to the account character menu.
  2. Divinetoken: This feature lets you trade in your questpoints, hero levels and talents for divine tokens if you are standing with a Questmaster. No more need for imms to swap the tokens for you. see help divine-token
  3. Spells: You can now sort your spells by spell type for a quick list when searching for a spell. see help spells
  4. QLOOK or QUIETLOOK: this command will allow you to look at players, mobs and objects without informing the room or players. see help qlook
  5. Quality of Life updates for Screenreaders: We've removed a lot of symbols and characters to improve accessibility for those who use screenreaders.
  6. Players are automatically logged out after 4 hours idle.
  7. RPSTATS Updates: We have added in two new RPstats; Initiative and Spell DC. see help stats
    • Initiative uses Speed, Reflex and Intuition
    • Spell DC uses the level plus Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma

12/24/25

The switch has been made and we're live. TGMUD.NET should work but if for whatever reason it doesn't the IP address 104.168.7.122 will do. To make a new account:

  • new
  • name of the account (it does not replace a character)
  • password for the account
  • add alts name
  • alts password

Repeat for all your alts, you can add or remove later. Then when you're ready to login, use the name or the number of the alt you want and there you go.

12/23/25

We are pleased to announce that alongside our scheduled code update on Wednesday, December 24th 2025, we will be migrating to a new server to improve the long-term stability and performance of the game. This transition comes with the full support and blessing of Trellan, our longtime server administrator. Trellan remains an invaluable part of our team, and we continue to rely on his deep expertise in server maintenance and game operations. However, due to health-related, life and other constraints, he is no longer able to give his full attention to the server needs. In the spirit of shared responsibility, our staff will now assist in sharing the administrative responsibilities to ensure consistent operation and faster issue resolution.

The new server has been carefully selected for improved performance and redundancy. For players, the migration should be seamless. The only expected interruption will be approximately an hour of downtime during the migration to safely transfer all character data so no progress will be lost. This will coincide with the code update.

We are excited about this step forward in improving your gameplay experience and are deeply grateful to Trellan for his years of dedication and guidance. Together, we are committed to maintaining a stable, enjoyable environment for all.

Upcoming Code Updates

We will be implementing player ACCOUNTS next week on Wednesday 24 December 2025. This feature will allow you to connect all your characters to a single account with several features in the account system that will let you edit without logging into the game AND swap DT between characters on your account! (With no DT tax!) This will also allow players to have account level settings for color modes, prompts and screenreader settings. You will be able to ADD any of your existing characters to the account.

There will be no PC loss in this process.

We will also have a number of additional features that we are implementing at the same time including (but not limited to):

  1. Quality of Life improvements for screenreader functions
  2. Expanded "Spells" command that will allow you to filter spells by type for easier spell searching.
  3. Expanded RPSTATS: Initiative and Spell DC linked to stats.
  4. Divine Token purchasing! No more need for staff intervention.
  5. Quietlook - look at someone without informing the whole room.
  6. 6. Lots of bug fixes and backend stuff.

The team has been working hard on issues for your enjoyment (and game stability).

Bug Fixes

1. Traps will no longer crash the game. They are about half fixed. You can create, save, disarm and set a trap in a room. They dont, however, damage the victim. Be on the lookout for future updates here to get the traps fully functional! see help trap
2. Fixed several memory leaks for improved game stability.
3. Background clean up of code to allow for cleaner build process.

New and Updated Features

1. Updated the Pregnancy code to reflect the current races and added new functionality.
  • Contractions stop will give some flexibility on the timing for your babies and thus your roleplay.
  • Breedinfo (race) is updated to reflect the current breeding partners.
  • Some races are capable of large litters.

  • New Immortal Commands in the background.
2. Smithing has been updated to make it more equitable with other equipment.
  • Smithed items now focus on the "Core Stats", Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Wisdom, Intelligence, Charisma and Luck.
  • Core Stats are capped at a max of 50 at level 100 for the highest quality items.
  • Secondary stats focus on Spell Hitroll of Logic and Intuition. These are capped at 25.
  • Items can now have IRV on them. Each wear slot has the chance of 1 or more different kinds of IRV. The type of item and wear slot affects what kind of IRV. This means that smithed items may have IRV in wear slots not allowed by relics.
  • Any Gem can now be used on any slot. In addition, the stats are additional to the stats described above giving blacksmiths and others more flexibility.

If you find any issues, please let me know! We are working to ensure everything works well. We are addressing bugs and working to put in new features and update existing features for easier use.

Bug Fixes
  1. There was a bug in the Alias Command that has been resolved.
  2. Shieldbash and other damage IRV related has been resolved.
  3. The random crashes should be resolved from the MTC Overload. This should also resolve the issue with Syndicate quests! You should be able to pick those quest types again.
  4. RPdam and RPheal command should now show the user the amount of damage they take or heal directly.
New Features
  1. Divine tokens can now be awarded up to 100 at a time! Yay! Less Spam.
  2. Similarly, QP can now be stripped up to 100k at a time and awarded up to 50k at a time.
  3. New Calculation for how the Luck! bonus works on dice rolling. The higher your luck, the more likely it is to pop.
  4. Cleric RP Spell Damage bonus has changed from using Piety, Wisdom and Mental Discipline to using Foresight, Wisdom and Mental Discipline. Helpfiles have been updated to reflect this change and also updated for clarity. (See help stats and help relic-stats')
  5. RPXP needed to gain a DT token has changed from 50k to 25k. IN addition, the amount needed while in a global has updated from 10k to 5k.
  6. Players who have over half of their XP from RPXP will gain RPXP twice as fast.
  7. There are some new Shadowgate addresses. You can now travel to Domus Pius and Kri'Xina using the gates. Help Shadowgate has been updated with the combinations and additional information on Shadowgates to help newer players.
  8. Fetch Quests items have been updated. Yes, we have been listening to everyone on this.
  9. Some new Hexes have been added to the game- this is for later as we work on future additions to the game.
