Quest pets are special pets available for purchase from the quest petmaster in Dragondale. These pets start out pretty weak, but can gain experience and level through order <pet> level up to your current display level. If a quest pet moves to a lower-level owner, its level is capped back down to that owner. They come in several types, with the default form you buy them in being of the type they belong to.
You should purchase the pet for the type that you truly want your special pet to be, since they are fully customizable in descriptions. If there is not a pet suiting what you want, pick the best type that fits what you want as reflected below. As always, please follow help theme in your choices when customizing your pets. If you are unsure of what pet is permitted then please ask an Immortal.
Quest pet type are:
Amphibian - a tiny frog
Arachnoid - a large spider
Avian - a baby griffon
Canine - a wolf pup
Dragon - a tiny dragon (see below note)
Equine - an energetic pony
Feline - a feral kitten
Humanoid - a humanoid slave
Monkey - a small cute little monkey
Reptile - a yount salamander
Rodent - a small rat
Serpent - a slithery snake
NOTE:
The dragon type is meant to be a faerie dragon only, very small. Normal sized dragons for pets are not permitted.
Once you purchase your quest pet, it will appear in your inventory in the form of a figurine. To turn it into a pet that follows you, simply type release figurine and it will become your pet. You may turn it back into a figurine by typing capture.
If you need to permanently remove a carried figurine, use figurine destroy <figurine>. This asks for figurine confirm destroy and a final Y/N confirmation. Destroying a figurine is permanent and is not refunded.
To view the pet list and purchase quest pets from the pet master, you will use the quest petlist and quest purchase <gender> commands. Note that when purchasing, you will need to specify the gender you would like your pet to be. These include: male, female and hermaphrodite
While quest pets will follow normal orders from you as all pets will, they also have their own command interpreter which allows them to process several special commands that only they will follow. These commands are issued with the normal order command, and are:
name - changes the keywords used to target them
short - changes short desc (shows when interacting)
long - changes long desc (what shows in the room)
desc - edit the description (shows when looking at pet)
entry - sets pet's entry message
exit - sets pet's exit message
report - displays stats of your pet
eat - feeds pet food YOU are carrying
level - spends pet exp to level, up to your display level
petwhistle - changes the entry for your pet upon whistling for them
petrelease - changes the message seen when you release your pet
petcapture - changes the message that is seen when you capture your pet
Remember as with all pets you can use petwhistle to call them to you.
