Scholars have been working on anti-magical techniques to render opponents unable to use their mana to magical effect. Instead of a fire fight that could last for hours, now a mage is equipped the ability to fetter their opponents. Chains of Anti-Magic is an offensive spell that creates negative energy chains. When the afflicted tries to use their inner mana to cast a spell, summon the powers of nature, or commune with the gods, the spell's necessary mana will be denied and absorbed by the chains. They do not suck energy coming from other sources in the vicinity or towards the opponent however, making any magical profession vulnerable when afflicted.
