Draconians Extended Details

. Draconians are a proud race of dragon-like humanoids. Their key defining features are their leathery scales, sharp claws, and webbed wings, though there is a lot more to them than that. Draconians come from a rare paring of human and dragon many generations ago, and because of that, share characteristics between the two. Although most Draconians share the same aspects, depending on how close their ancestry is to their Dragon forefather they may be more human like or more dragon related. Like humans, Draconians are bipedal and posture-wise tend to stand straight, preferring their full height to slouching in almost all situations. No matter what, Draconians are always covered in leathery, armor-like scales that come in a variety of colors. The most common are red, black, green, white, and blue, although they do rarely come in more metallic gold, bronze, and rarely silver. Draconians with strange magical heritage have been known to have wilder colors such as pink or purple, although these are often rare and one-of-a-kind. They also all sport dangerous claws which are sharp enough to be used as weapons, but do not reduce the dexterity of their fingers. Along with the claws, Draconians are also primarily carnivores, having sharp, fang-like teeth. These teeth are designed to rip and tear instead of grind, and have been used as last-ditched effort weapons. A lost fang will often regrow in a week or so, and continue to be replaced far into an elder Draconian's last days. Along with fangs and claws, Draconians always have two more features: a thick, trunk-like tail that is used for balance during flight, and the motivator of flight, their webbed wings. Sometimes tipped with vestigial claws, the wings of a Draconian are fully functioning at a late juvenile age. The only part of their outer body not coated in scales is the webbing that makes up the inside of the wing, and because of that, are often kept folded and protected when not in use. Tiny cuts and tears in this skin will heal quickly and not prevent the ability to fly, however loss of webbing may result in a Draconian unable to lift to the air ever again.

The eyes of a Draconian follow their heritage. Because of that, Draconians that are closer to their dragon heritage will have slitted, lizard-like eyes that can have colors of yellows, golds, or greens. Older families have eyes that are rounder and take one colors such as red, black, blue, and yellow. Rarely a Draconian may have human-like hazel or brown. Although Draconian welps are born with the ability to eat meat and with a full set of teeth, female Draconians that are less-closely related to their dragon heritage have been known to have vestigial human-like breasts, at least in shape. Their chests are often still covered with their impenetrable scales and do not lactate. Draconians come in all shapes and sizes, from the shortest of 4'10" to a maximum towering 7 feet. Their warriors are often proud of their immense strength and sizable muscles, while the more cunning of their kind tend to be angular, lean and whip-like.
