Many orcs, whether due to time spent away from home or being unable to attract a mate due to being particularly weak, tend to get extremely lonely. Quite often, such Orcs will take out their sexual frustrations out on those that they raid. On occassion, an orc may find a particularly strong human, and the human sees an orc with an unusually kind heart. From both of these situations, half-orcs are born.
Half-orcs have no society of their own, for they are half-breeds. Instead, they live in the society of whichever parent they live with. Unfortunately, such individuals are regarded by hatred by those around them. Humans see them as monsters, while Orcs see them as weak.
To a Half-orc, combat is the most easy profession to excel in, and thus many become mercenaries or bodyguards. Still, they possess more of an intelligent and patient mind than their brutish parent, and thus often can also learn the more subtle arts of magic, thievery, or craftsmanship. This can also make them powerful figures in their Orcish tribe, should they choose to exploit it.
Loneliness is the most common emotion a Half-orc feels. Few are willing to stay near one for long, and even fewer are willing to give them a chance at becoming friends. Those who do make friends with one, however, will find a friend of the truest sense, one who would do anything to keep the friendship. A Half-orc is often desperate for real friendship, and may guard their friends with their lives.
The opportunity to mate is often a rare occurance to a Half-orc, but when it is available, they often try to attract romantic attentions by whatever means they are most familiar with, depending on which society they grew up closer in. Half-orcs are much more likely to mate for life than Orcs and even Humans, due to their need for someone close. Though many Half-orcs can be surprisingly gentle during these times, just as many can have the roughness of their Orcish parent.
