In the interests of privacy and the prevention of theft, Scholars developed a different means of preventing a door from being breached. By encasing the edges of a door frame with mana and reinforcing the lock's mechanism, the door can be made to seal shut. Hold Portal prevents a door, while affected, from being opened from either side until the spell is dispelled or wears off. There must be a door that's closed and able to be affected by magic.
