KOBOLDS-GENERAL
Keywords:
KOBOLDS-GENERAL, KOBOLD-GENERAL, KOBOLD
From realm to realm, what defines a "kobold" is oftentimes rather blurry.
But in Tyrradin, there are three distinct types: Wolfkin, Dragonkin, and
Fortress kobolds.
Before we go in depth on the three different races, ther are certain characteristics common to all kobolds: Sharp fangs, sharp claws, and dirty fingernails. All kobolds have natural brawling capabilities, able to dodge and knock aside thrown objects easily, and arrows or bolts with lesser ease, due to their size and generally slim stature. And all kobolds have a special weapon unique to their race... their fingernails. Though mrems can claw, kobolds use their nails for much deadlier attacks, which disease the opponent with whatever poisons or diseases the kobold picked up on their nails. On older and stronger kobolds, this almost certainly means death unless an antidote or cure is given within a day, or if they're resistant to diseases. The kobolds themselves are resistant to disease and poison, because they live with it all their lives. They tend to move in scuttling or scurring motions, and love to use poison on their weapons.
All kobold types make excellent thieves and warriors, and a few of them make good barbarians. They rarely have any magical, clerical, or druidic capabilities, but it is not unheard of for them to become shamanistic druids and rangers, and should they be converted somehow, clerics and paladins.
Kobold races:
Wolfkin kobolds are as their name sounds: furry, rawulf like creatures between the sizes ofhalflings and elves, though generally closer to halflings in size. Their thick leathery hide, covered in ragged, usually not well kept fur, is very resistant to slashing attacks. They usually act in wolflike packs, and on larger packs, have a shaman who guides them to be more akin to their namesake, the wolf. Their fur tends to be brown, though white and black furred kobolds have been seen. Their eyes are allways a bloody red color, and shaped like wolf eyes.
Dragonkin kobolds are not as fierce as they sound: they tend to bhe the most cowardly and smallest of all kobolds. Their tough, lizardlike scales are resistant to most attacks, though their small stature makes them vulnerable to flails, maces, and the like. Their scales are dullin color, but can be any of red, brown, blue, green, or pink, depending on lineage mostly. Their eyes are usually the same color as their scales, only much brighter. It is legend that some kobolds grow wings upon maturity, and are able to breath dragonfire... but no cases have been recorded as such...
Fortress kobolds are the most unique kobold race. They were bred from dragonkin kobolds by their patron deity, Kaida, and are fierce fighters, never giving a quarter to any who disturb the peace of the fortress they are named after. They are fearless, and several squads of kobolds claim to have taken down giants and ogres, providing the giant skulls as proof. They have excellent teamwork and training, and their society is very organized and secretive... The fortress kobolds tend to be the most graceful looking... looking akin to small elves, with lizardlike scales and elven faces.
There are four loosely connected 'families' of fortress kobolds. In RP, members of the same 'family' are treated merely as good, trustworthy friends.

Mosstail

Flashfang
Scales of pure gold, ruby red eyes. Immunity to charm, hold, paralysis, freezing. Impressive rage when confined. A flashfang cannot be held in place by magical means (hold spell, paralyziz spell, etc). When they are held in place by physical means, they become a dangerous, raging force of nature, able to break stone walls, snap steel bars, and bend mithral and adamantium.
