Martial arts weapons are a special weapon class for a remort branch of
monks that gain the ability to train with them. Below is a list of the
available weapons in this class along with an explanation of each.
Kyoketsu - This weapon consists of a large ring that you hold in one
hand and a weapon portion with a straight blade with a hooked
blade coming out of its side, with a rope connecting the two.
It is generally used by swinging the bladed portion through the
air to strike at your enemies.
Tanto - This weapon is a common battlefield knife. It is single edged
and comes either straight-bladed, or with a slight curve.
Ken - Ken are sword class weapons, of which there are several varieties.
^ Odachi are long swords, generally 47-52 inches long and with a strong curve.
^ Tachi are slightly shorter than Odachi, around 42-46 inches and well-curved.
^ Katana are the same length as Tachi, but the curvature is slightly less.
^ Ninjato have even less of a curve than katana, and are between 36-39 inches.
^ Shoto are short swords, around 23-25 inches with almost no curvature.
Naginata - This weapon is a polearm type of weapon, with a long handle
generally made of wood with a heavy sword blade on the end. Other
other material types may be used for the handle, but the heavier
materials will make the weapon unwieldy in a realistic sense.
Kama - This weapon consists of a short handle with a curved blade on the
end, perpendicular to the handle. It resembles an axe, though the
blade is curved and dagger-like rather than wedge-like.
Nunchaku - This weapon consists of two thin club-like rods connected by
short chain. General use is done by holding one of the rods and
swinging the other around to strike at your enemies.
Sansetsukon - This weapon is like the nunchaku, except it had three
sections connected by two chains. It is generally called a
three-section staff.
Bo - These are traditional staff weapons and are generally made of wood.
They are roughly 72" long, though hanbo (short staffs) are around 36-40".
Yari - This weapon is a special type of spear. It has a dual-edged and
pointed spear blade roughtly 12-20 inches long mounted on a long
wooden pole.
Sai - This weapon consists of a handle with two thick prongs projecting
forward from the hilt on either side, while a third much longer prong
extends out looking much like a dagger's blade. Sai blades are usually
round, non-edged, and heavy. Though they generally end in a rounded
tip, the end may also be sharpened to a point if desired.
