Who is Nereus:
Born of the seas from a heart that was created by natures hand, and buried in its deepest, darkest depths. The sea and all within it absorbed into this large, pulsing, beating seed, helping in the creation of the being who would be its protector, its ruler. Granted the gift of life through the waters, it was now his domain. His temperament is like the seas itself, calm one moment, crashing and violent the next. The waters of the sea controlling his mood as much as he controlled its flow. Having been granted the waters of life by nature, she then granted him luck, enabling him to use his powers to feed and nourish the land. To send it into crevices and valleys to form lakes, streams, and creeks, luck having guided it there.
The Pantheon:
He has a deep love, and great respect for nature, and he does not care one way or another about those of the Pantheon, so long as they bring no harm to the sea. But, there is a long standing feud between himself and Furina. Since her creation he as worked to attempt to undo, or foil her efforts where he can, to cleans and revive what she seeks to corrupt or decay. While both are creations of Nature, they each are on opposite sides. One the holder of the waters of life, the other, helping to bring about life's end. Neither venturing into the others domain, and avoid one another, completely.
Children:
Like Kahryn, his children are created. The Merfolk having been given form and brought into being by his hand alone. Shaping them into the seas protectors, they patrol and aid him in keeping it safe, while offering the comfort of their companionship to help ease the self inflicted isolation that he has wrapped himself within.
