The Nostrum started out years ago, as a religion, following the goddess Ariana's ideals that a ballance MUST be maintained and no faction, good or evil, should hold supreme ownership of the realm. Over time, though, the religion came to change, many things in the realm forcing the hand of the goddess or making her have to assault areas and take control. Now, the Nostrum focusses more as a militant religion, their ranks consisting of both believers and soldier, the belief that the world CAN one day be at peace driving their desire. The goddess Ariana herself declaring that ways needed to change, the pacifistic role would not aid them if they themselves are attacked!
Now the Nostrum, while rarely first to strike, stands by whatever allies they might have and have spent the years, amassing troups to try to bring peace to the realm. They are not the soldiers or believers of good, nor ar they the weapons of damnation, they are the neutral ballance, the law to come after.
While they are a militant religion, they seem to be rather peaceful, not actively seeking out fights, just seeming to end those that come towards them for now. Each member is treated well, no rank or person treated as lesser unless they have done something to MAKE themselves be lesser than those around them. Those who hope to bring a ballance to the world, those who have hoped for peace to come, even if it will only come after a grand war, they are those who make up the Nostrum, fighting alongside, not just under the command, of the goddess Ariana.
