NOTE: Starkin and Nightkin are Rethian races, and as such would have little to no knowledge of Tirradyn, including IC knowledge of Dragondale and other cities, upon creation. They will need to RP learning of Tirradyn over time.
In an out of the way corner of Rethia, a wasteland stood where nothing grew. Hurtling from the sky, several shooting stars fell from the sky. These were the first Starkin. With their flowing hair and elegant wings, they were an oddity never discovered until the Earth Mother found them, scraping out a harsh, simple life among the wasteland. As they went beyond their borders searching for food and water, they chanced upon the Earth Mother, who took each of them into her life-giving embrace. She blessed the eldest of them with a kiss to the forehead, blazing there an eight pointed star which shone even among cloudy days. She taught them of the earth and gave them the knowledge on how to grow and learn of the Rethian continent. She walked through the wasteland in which they came to rest, flowers, grass and trees bursting from the earth, flowing through the desolate land wherever her warm gaze landed. They dwell in the Astral Veil to this day, near where Avalon now stands.
Star Kin-Physical Attributes
Star Kin are born of fire and the electricity of nebula. Their hair can range from pure white to orange and yellow, never black. Their hair crackles with sparks and their eyes, which may be almost every color, always hold pinpricks of white fire. They are the creatures of the light in the night sky, thus they are always warm to the touch and sport skins raging from midnight black to the inferno that is fire at its hottest, though rarely are they pale. It is said that a dying Starkin is so full of magic, he will burn to ash when it is his turn, but this is myth and legend, and has never been proven. Starkin are almost always over five feet tall, though their babies are very small. Not until the babies are taken out into the night are their full attributes revealed, their eyes taking on their permanent hue, and the faint outline of the wings they will form in puberty tattooed upon their backs. Adult Starkin have gauzy, diaphinus wings with a starburst in the center. The feathery wings also range in color but are always flame or electric-ranged. Child starkin wings take years to grow in fully, beginning to form when the child reaches puberty. Hairstyles range from short to long, styled or otherwise.
When the Starkin chooses to do so, they can make their wings vanish. When the wings are hidden, the starburst mark on the wings, as well as the varying colors of the wings themselves, are transferred to the person's back as a tattoo. This vanishes, of course, when the wings are summoned again.
Star Kin-culture
Once the eyes of the Starkin have seen the night sky, they are bathed, the sparks dispersing somewhat into their hair and their blood warming from the flames of the stars shining above. The ritual bath holds scented herbs known to promote good health. The baby is usually bathed by the mid-wife or the ruler of the Starkin. The child is then named after either the stars or something in nature. It���s rare to have a Starkin with a name from a city. If they choose, they may undergo a task and receive a tattoo of special infused ink on the jawline. This gives them some rank in Starkin society. The Starkin have various holidays which are centered around nature, the night and so on.
Starkin Breeding Info
Starkin have gestation time similar to that of the elven races. Breeding with the elven races produces a half-elf. Breeding with another Starkin will produce Starkin, while breeding with a Nightkin will produce a child of either race, while breeding with any demonic race will produce a hanyou.
