This particular ice desert has no life in it at all: the very air breathed in that place tastes of death and decay, threatening to consume one's soul should one remain in the place for too long. It has always existed in the realm, simply a piece of the land that was created in the beginning of days, and its deathly aura damns those souls who perish in its frozen embrace to remain there for eternity, dragging other hapless victims down into hell with them.
