He was known within the Tribes, using his disguise as a mortal to spread an opposition of culture and refinement that Ariana represented. Not Law for the sake of it, but order within nature and law with reason, founded in Nature, Loyalty and the functionality of the world. He used the mask of mortality to build opposition to the skin-deep perfection of Ariana and the cities. The only one to see through this mask was the master of masks herself- Sheylynn. She said nothing, and generally let him do as he pleased as outing him would interrupt her own long term goals.
