Most animals have a natural instinct to determine what is fatal to
eat/drink, and what is fine. Humans and most other intelligent races don't
have the luxury of such survival instincts, and often consume the more fatal poisons without knowing it. When the poison sensing abilities of animals is summoned, the caster is able to "sniff" out the toxins before ingested, avoiding much discomfort, or possibly death.
