General Physical Description and Biology:
Avians are small to medium sized bird-like humanoids. Many are covered in colorful feathers that fit their bird archetype which can be greatly varied, while others have human like skin with just wings and some feathers about their person. Many have digitigrade legs covered in scutes and talons, though some are more humanoid in form. What is common is their hollow bones which makes them quite light and aids in their flight. They have a large wingspan that is many times their height to allow for natural flight. Some have only wings with hands on the ends with the feathers on their arms, while others have both wings and arms. Some avian tails are long enough to trail along the ground but these birds usually hold such tails aloft to keep them clean. Avians have nictitating membranes that can close over their eyes with a milky white film to protect them while flying. Like all Anthropomorphic races, they can be fully bird like in facial features or more human. So, some have beaks and others mouths.
Basic Personality:
Avians are naturally social creatures that tend to be friendly, delighting in community bonds and forming close friendships. They tend to enjoy music, play and flying, often They recognize other avians by plumage (especially wings and tail) and other races by the largest bodily feature they have. They take this a step further and often recognize other races by their hair coloring and clothing, which can lead to confusion.
Origin and Lore:
It is unknown how avians started. Many suspect it happened when a human crossed with a bird, but this has been disproven as avians are not mammals like humans are. While they may have human like faces and hair, but that's as far as it goes. With the origins of avians shrouded in mystery, some of them dedicate their lives to finding out, but none have yet succeeded.

Avians are generally social creatures. They consider their closest companions their "flock" and will defend them with their lives due to their unbending loyalty if treated right. They tend to mate for life and lay several clutches of eggs and will defend their family and eggs with their lives. They tend to keep track of their family lines and histories through song and story. These are passed down as traditions within different flocks.
