General Physical Description and Biology:
Wolfkin Kobolds are a small, furry race that bear a close resemblance to wolves, with thick leathery hides covered in unkempt fur. Their fur, usually brown, serves as both protection and camouflage in forested or mountainous areas. Their eyes are always a deep, bloody red and are shaped like those of wolves, granting them excellent night vision. Wolfkin possess sharp fangs and claws, which they use in battle to rend and tear their foes. Standing between 2.5 to 3.5 feet tall, Wolfkin Kobolds are swift and agile, able to dodge projectiles and melee attacks with ease. Wolfkin give birth to live young, typically one at a time, with twins being rare. Wolfkin Kobolds are omnivorous, favoring a diet of raw or lightly cooked meat due to their animalistic nature. They will often hunt in their packs, using both their numbers and their sharp claws to take down prey. In lean times, they are known to scavenge for whatever food is available.
Basic Personality:
Wolfkin Kobolds are pack creatures at heart. They form tight-knit social groups and rarely venture alone. Their pack mentality makes them natural raiders, often hired by non-kobold factions to perform raids, scavenging missions, and ambushes. Their loyalty to the pack is paramount, and the shaman leaders that guide them are both respected and feared. Though they can be aggressive, their behavior is typically tied to survival rather than malice. They are highly opportunistic, quick to exploit weaknesses in their enemies, but they have a sense of loyalty and order within their own ranks. They are also seen as dangerous, disposable soldiers, used for high-risk tasks by other races.
Origin and Lore:
According to kobold legend, Wolfkin Kobolds were born from the fusing of goblins and wolves through a curse placed on them by an ancient spirit of the forest. They have since embraced this heritage, adopting a life closely tied to the wilderness. While they sometimes live near urban areas, they often reside in the outskirts, dwelling in makeshift encampments. They tend to avoid living too close to other species, unless being paid for their services. Despite their savage tendencies, Wolfkin Kobolds maintain a deep connection with nature, worshipping animal spirits and practicing shamanism in their packs.
Naming Convention:
Wolfkin Kobold names tend to be short, with hard "S" sounds, often beginning with "D" or "T". These names reflect their sharp, no-nonsense nature. Examples include: Drass, Trek, Dossk, Sker
Preferred Habitat:
The wilderness, forests and the ooutskirts of urban areas.
Society Structure:
Live in packs or clans with a chief and a shaman who help lead each individual pack. Many packs often form a Slaugh that can be called on in times of war for enough coin if all the chiefs and shamans agree.
