The Tributary Carcass
Keywords:
TRIBUTARY, CARCASS
The Tributary Carcass is another matter altogether. A nigh endless river filled with the blood of those being's who's souls were judged impure and confined to the Sea of Leeches, the Tributary Carcass is where the souls awaiting judgement reside. It also has an addition function of serving to house those souls that were neither pure nor vile. They flit around as fireflies, seeking chances to prove their worth to enter the Fields. Often times these souls are reborn onto Tirradyn for a second chance, erased of all memory of their former selves though the records that are kept always show which souls are reborn and whom they become, all deeds recorded in due
time.
In the middle of the river of blood, a black and white marble platform stands with a simple set of scales in the middle. It is here that the heart is weighed and the soul transported accordingly. When a new soul arrives, the heart is removed and placed upon the scale and weighed against a series of red beads, each one representing a different virtue or vileness in life, each one an ideal. If the heart is ultimately lighter than all the beads, it is sent to the Fields, if heavier, to the Sea. If found to be in balance, it is sent back to Tirradyn, to live anew. The Judge that resides at the Tributary Carcass is a large figure known to be eternally clad in glistening crystal platemail, his or her true form forever hidden from view, a being known as Kristal Dre'ift, named after strangely beautiful armor worn amid such a dismal backdrop.
Compared to the river though, there is one other oddity about the Tributary Carcass. High in the sky are countless stars, some larger and brighter than others. These are the fallen gods of Tirradyn's past, each one forever watching over the judgement of mortal souls.
One other figure is known to reside in the Tributary Carcass but also appears in both the Fields and the Sea, Ryde'synn. Ryde'synn is known to work heavily with Furina, logging each soul's arrival and departure. Known for having a vice-like mind, it is said that what Ryde'synn sees it will never forget.
