General Description and Biology

Felidred are born as kittens and shed their fur around the time they turn three to take on a human form. They are known shapeshifters, but need their cat-fur to shift into a large feline. Their cat form tends to be on the very large size of cat. While in their human form, they have cat eyes and often have fur covered human ears. In addition, they have tufts of cat fur that are part of the felindred pelt that allowed them to shift. Aside from that, they would look human- even bringing with them their ritual markings if they have completed their quest. If their pelt is stolen, they cannot shapeshift.

Basic Personality

Felindred are very Spiritual as a race. Those who fail their ritual quest are considered Rogues and while they are not shunned, they are not as respected as others in society. They are a shy race, but welcoming for those who are invited to their lands. It is tradition to offer food and drink to any who sit at their table with them.

Origin and Lore

Also known as Kindred Feline, Felindreds migrated from a far off land, just as the snow fae did. King Wynter, son of King Northen, helped the Felindred to build a village for themselves and they named it Wildreach. It is inside the border of Hope's Empire, just a few leagues south of Hope's Hamlet gate. The village is small, holding no more than 10 families, but the Felindred have no issue with this. They rarely leave Hope's Empire, but when they do, it's either for a ritual quest, or to buy supplies. The Felindred are also known as Kindred Feline and feel sorry for the Mrem who wander the land, as the Mrem will never know what it is to be a full cat.

Naming Conventions

The Felindred generally name themselves after plants found in nature, but have been known to also name themselves after concepts they aspire to. Examples: Nyghtshayd, Comphry, Rosemaerrie, Thymme.

Preferred Habitat

They prefer the cold reaches of Elzeothis, keeping to the snowy areas near the glaciers. The Hope's Empire and the villages within it, like Wildreach are home to them. The Felindred have been living in this place for over a hundred years.

Society Structure

At sixteen, the Felindred must undertake a quest adapted to fit the training they have undergone so far. There is a large training hall in the village where the Felindred may learn which path to take. The shaman of the village consults with the family, as well as the Count, who leads the village. The Felindred teen has one year to complete the task and if not completed, they either return late and in shame, working the lowest jobs, or never return at all and become a Rogue. Rogues have been known to cause quite a stir. As a reward for completing the task set before them, the Felindred will receive a tattoo of a pouncing cat, the men on the forearm and the women on the back.
