Overview
The City of KriXina is strategically located in the heart of the Hikarian continent, nestled amongst the Rolling hills of the Felinta Forest, which surrounded the city providing plenty of food and supplies during its early days. Its location in the middle of the continet, off of Foggy Mind Trail and Drexxas path, made the city a very popular trade location. Even as Chyndagh started to gain a foothold on Hikaru, KriXina continued to thrive as a wealthy trade city. Now completely in ruins, it serves as a place for bandits and ghosts to call home and a beacon for foolish treasure hunters.
History
The City started out on shaky ground, that of a makeshift grave yard. A group of travelers, their names lost to history, set out to map the then unmapped forest of Clarwurm. The forest was then later renamed to Felinta Forest, after the lost party. During the expedition a freak snow storm blanketed most of Hikaru. Lost in the blizzard all the members of the expedition died except for their cleric, Nailah Felinta. When asked how she survived, all she would say is she followed three girls into a cave.
The bodies were buried to honor the dead and it was at this point a small village was created, first to house the gravediggers, until some family members of the fallen moved there to be near their lost loved ones. With the freak snow storm fading from memory and the topical warm, humid temperatures and rich, fertile Hikarian soil, the area quickly formed into a large farming village. At this point in its history the village was known as Nailinta Village, and so it would stay for half a century.
It was not until a man named Draven Aeglaeca came across Nailinta Village that it would take its rightful place on the continent, if not world, stage. Draven had lost his family to the vile pirate known as Red Leg months before. Broken and depressed he wandered inwards, deeper into the continent where he found Nailinta Village. The village was located far enough from the sea that while they had heard of the pirate, and even had others like Draven fleeing to their lands, those fleeing from the pirate attacks along the coast only helped to build the numbers in Nailinta Village, increasing its power and standing in the realm. One such person fleeing from Red Leg was a woman named Eve Knightwood. Before long Draven and Eve meet and fell hopelessly in love. It was their unwavering determination, thirst for freedom, and vengeance that saw the village become a city.
Red Leg continued raping, pillaging and enslaving all along the coast, while Nailinta Village sat safe away from the sea. Draven and Eve used the safety of the village to start the roots of a rebellion against the pirate lord. Draven was from a fishing family, and although he did not know how to fight he was the master of the net, and determined to get revenge. Eve on the other hand was the daughter of a brave knight. Eve was able to train the young men of Nailinta Village, their bodies hardened from working in the fields, into a makeshift fighting force. Draven and Eve led their forces, known as Krises Angels, named after their daggers, having a wavy double-edged blade, from the village, to battle the pirate lord.
Now short on able-bodied young men, the village had to quickly change its very nature in order to prevent from falling into ruin. Just weeks after the Krises Angels left the village, a man by the name of Marcelonin DraKon took his place as head of the village. A wealthy businessman from Dragondale, he'd left the city in search of love, and while he didnt find it in a person, he instead found it in Nailinta Village. After taking leadership of the village, he quickly named himself king and renamed the village into KriXina, paying respect to the Krises Angels that left home. The name change was only the first of many changes made to the village in order to make it a city. A beautiful wall was built around the city for its protection, land once used for farming was shifted into homes and businesses. The cities' location made it a hub for travelers and trade, comforted by the protection the city walls provided.
Over the next hundred years the city continued to expand, each time moving the walls back more and more into the surrounding forest. As its size grew so did its wealth and power. The city was feared by its rivals, loved by its allies, and respected by all. The end however, was nearing for its great power. An army of the undead were spotted near the southern wall, not just zombies but creatures never seen before corpse golems. Angel wings sewn onto the bodies of elves, undead giants with alligator heads where their fists should be. All dead yet living, beyond that of a Necromancer. Unknown to the people at the time, they were facing an army of Kasim.
King Arnox Dra'Kon and his bride Lady Saretta Reaver called a meeting with the Order of the Mind to plan what should be done to defend the city. The Order of the Mind, sometimes called the Council, or Society of the Mind was based out of KriXina City but its members were from all parts of the Tirradyn system. The wisest and most thoughtful members of the realm made up the Order, working to protect and improve the world whenever they could. A battle plan was forged that day. Lady Saretta was to sneak into the enemys ranks while wearing the skin of a fallen warrior to blend in with their undead and slay their leader. To aid in her task, the king was to lead an army, striking at the center of the enemy encampment while two smaller forces attacked from the sides. The goal was not to defeat the enemy in these attacks, but to weaken and distract them while waiting for the aid of their nearest allies- Chyndagh, Sendakian and Valesston. Much is disputed about those sent to contact their allies but what is not in dispute is that the allies never came. Three women were chosen, the stories differ on why they were chosen or even what their races and ages were, the only thing being agreed on is that the three were triplets.
The enemy was less equipped than the KriXina army, yet each time a foe was struck down it would rise back up. Those on the KriXina side that fell would rise as well, joining the ranks of their attackers. Magic had little to no effect in slowing the undead army. Fire seemed to be the only way to keep a foe down, even then it was only after the flesh was burnt away, leaving nothing but bone. Until then the flaming corpse would still battle. With the battle clearly lost, magic being of no use in battle, the powerful Archmage retreated to the castle. Candles were quickly set up, the grimoire opened, no one made it out of the inside of the castle to tell the tale of what happened in there. Outside however, the castle vanished from view never to be seen again. The battle was hard fought but the allies never came. Later Chyndagh and Sendakian would both claim to have never gotten word of KriXinas need of assistance. Valesston would fall shortly after by the same army as it marched away from the ruins of KriXina to an unknown location. The city had less than a hundred survivors to tell the story of the battle, one being lady Saretta whom later found she entered battle nearly two months pregnant.
The city was lost, its few survivors leaving seeking protection and new lives else where. Parts of the city remained slowly decaying with time. For a short time a rat cult took hold in the decaying sewer of the once proud city. The cult only lasted about a year before the spirits of the city were able to drive them away. The large wealth of the city has never been found, leaving many fool hearty treasure hunters to search the ruins and surrounding area. Now, the city sits in ruins, slowly being reclaimed by the forest it calls home.
