. Kitsune Spark
The more adept of their kind whom have six tails or more, can change into a normal sized fox if not just slightly larger. The fox resembles the animal in coloring as well as having the one tail. What does happen when they shift, is their tails become a small flickering orb that hovers about the animal like a planet in orbit above them. The orb looks like a ball that is a combination of lightning and a wisp. The magic ball would be able to form a shield of lightning around the Kitsune to protect them, once the shield has been punctured or broken though, it would return to it's ball form to regenerate. The Kitsune call the ball their spark and protect it fiercely.
The spark is where the magic of the Kistune lies. It is usually conjured by the Kitsune to light a path, lure someone to them or aid in some fashion. If the spark is put out somehow to the point where the magic within cannot be attained anymore, the power within their tails goes too and the tails would be gone forever. If a spark is stolen, then the Kitsune will do anything, go to any means to get the spark back. Therefore most do not see the kitsune in true animal form ever, for it is harder to protect their spark in this form. The Kitsune are so protective of the spark that no other Kitsune is allowed to touch the spark of another Kitsune. Since the race has vulpine features and traits it only makes sense that they prefer foxes as pets and companions. They are even known to use the foxes as messengers to deliver scrolls, letters and other packages that need to be sent out into the Realm. Temples revere the fox for it's cunning, wisdom and ability to get out of all kinds of situations. Foxes are the Races Guardians and anyone mistreating a fox is put to death instantly without hesitation.
