Oda Theology

Theology The Oda empire doesn't have a single state religion, but some temples are viewed more kindly than others. The gods of Sages temple, successors to Orma's legacy, have long been revered in Hikaru. Old tales tell of Oram appearing to travellers, working various miracles of kindness and healing. Orders of monks maintain his legacy in their way, practicing pacifism of various kinds. In some cases this has developed into versions of unarmed combat and self-defence. Such monks and their supporters respect Sheylynn despite her barbaric exterior (and, many say, mentalitytoo). The Akoki clan were always inclined towards lawful evil. Their attachment to the temple of Kasimir survives, although today the worship of Seir takes place in secrecy - together with other plots suited to his following. Kestia is respected, often mentioned in the prayers of the common folk, although warriors and aristocracy have less time for her temple. Grakor, in particular his aspects of light and strength, are revered by the aristocracy of the more warlike clans. A warrior traditionally greets the dawn with his blade and head bared, performing a ritual exercise for the health of both body and soul. Versions of the same have spread among the common people, although of course empty-handed. The following of Kedanna, for long associated with the Akoki, revived a little with her apparent conversion of ways. But her cult is still a minor one within the empire, relying on missionary work such as its well-known orphanage.
