Personalize & String Rules

Keywords: STRING_RULES, STRING-RULES, PERSONALIZE-RULES, PERSONALIZE_RULES
Category: command
The below rules apply to the personalize command, and the hero ability to string items. 1) "With great power comes great responsibility." As with all of your actions on the MUD, you and you alone are responsible for them. Abuse of the personalize or crafting system will have your ability to make items revoked. And any items involved deleted. There are no more warnings. 2) You can only personalize quest items for yourself. Other items can be personalized for others, if you want to spend the quest points to do it. However if you are logging into the same ip as another person, this would go against the multiplayer rules, as you can only exchange statless items with each other. Anything that can not be dropped or exchanged without an immortals help can not be personalized for someone else. 3) You should only create items that your character should ICly be able to create, or items that you have an IC, RP reason to have. For example, a fay should not be creating their own armor, because fay's really can't be smiths. It is encouraged that players without the IC ability to make something seek out someone else ICly to get them to help out with creation, though if no one can be found you can say you have an NPC make a basic item for you. 4) Some materials are restricted somewhat, keep that in mind. If your character doesn't have access to be making shadowforged things, don't say that your character can make them. 5) Items should not have 'names' in their short or long description, unless the name of the item is immediately visible on it. Things like 'The sword of Kedanna' ain't gonna fly in these neck of the woods. 6) Items must, must obey all the other rules of the mud. For example, you can't have an item with an explicit description (unless, of course, you keep it covered.) Keep in mind that just because an item doesn't have an explicit short desc doesn't necissarilly make it okay. If you are just wearing 'a silk bra' on your upper body as a woman, that item isn't okay if it is cupless. 7) Items should keep true to The Gathering setting. So, no 'Saberlights', guns, anything of that nature. If you have a question about this, ask an immortal. 8) All personalizes must be kept IC. You should not be personalizeing anything for an OOC purpose. 9) You will not be refunded for any typos or mistakes that you make in your efforts. It is strongly encouraged that you type out and view any descriptions before you personalize them, and be very careful that you are stringing the right object.
