Serenity is an affect provided by the tattoo of serenity from the
questmaster. It protects you against being pkilled in most cases. When you
die to either mobs or players, a temporary serenity affect will be placed on you as well, to protect you while you retrieve your equipment and such.
There are two exceptions to serenity's protection. The first is through the challenge system. If you are serene and someone challenges you, you may accept and fight them in spite of your serenity or theirs. The second exception is if you are being a total asshat to people in a way that would cause others to want to kill you, but you're hiding behind serenity, the immortals may at their discretion flag you so that your serenity will not protect you.
Players that have serenity will show � in front of their short in the room.
