Culture, Rituals and Breeding

Trolls are first and foremost, individuals, gathering in packs, gangs, tribes, that eventually succumb to the weight of their needs and begin cannibalizing...which perpetuates new growth, and again, and again, and again. Little is known about any faith that they hold as a group save one: The First Harvest Moon of the year is like a beacon for the Trolls, for it is then that their prey stray into the night for the longest periods. It is on these nights they can cause whole counties to go dark with terror; it is on these nights that the best prey - children of any race - are easiest to lure, catch, steal, and, devour.

Language:
They click. They growl. They scream. They howl. They bellow, they cluck, they twitch and hoot. The Language of Trolls is twisted, turned inside out, and in some places foul enough to be punished by death. However, it is known to all of the Faerie Folk, if not because of proximity then...something else, and has the quality of 'gargling crushed glass'.

Breeding:
There are too many stories that are stories about Trolls to truly understand their breeding. Some claim to have witnessed the foul generations of trollblood in others, but who can know? Hate is insidious...and Trolls, well, Trolls are not known for hating. The truth of their breeding is a nightmare taco shelled by the horror of their own natures: When a Troll travels alone to a new region, it is said that they will often 'shed' limbs, digits, pieces of themselves along the way in their violent escapades. Do they breed in the way of other races? Unfortunately, yes, and it is often beholden to the race of the non-troll, stories left behind in a wake of wanton destruction, raiding, and worse.
As mentioned above, it is because of the mutagenic and adaptive nature of trollblood that we see so many 'sub-races' of trolls. In fact, these are all the same species and simply expansions of independent 'growths'. Worse still, there are rumors of powerful mages and alchemists experimenting on the species creating horrors beyond the original horror. This same capacity to mutate is also why one can see Trolls of every shape, size and color. These are the creatures that are baptized in the filth of mutilation, brutality, rape, murder, and wanton cannibalism.
It was once thought that eating a Troll's heart would give a man the virility to father a nation, or a barren mother the capability of birthing a hero. Traveler, if you have learned anything from this entry - do not make the mistake of believing the tales of hysterical witches.
