Ursa society is considered rather primitive by most cultures, but in a way can also be considered quite enlightened. Ursa live in clans, generally holding a rather tribal feel. Generally living in forests and caves, the Ursa build few structures, and what they do build tends to be crude constructions made of stone, save for a few elaborate temples.
The bearmen revere nature before almost anything else, and are highly protective of their forests. Druidic magic is common among them, and the leader of every clan is a powerful, nature-inspired caster, with a more mundane leader beneath him or her, managing day-to-day affairs. In Ursa society, females and males are considered equals.
Due to the rather primitive culture and closeness to nature, Ursa rarely craft many items, instead rather relying on their own strength and the comforts nature herself can provide. Their nonviolent nature leaves them to not produce many weapons or suits of armor, at best having scraps of leather and wooden spears. The Ursa do, however, love making necklaces, bracelets, and other charms out of animal teeth or beads that they can fashion, finding such decoration attractive.
Strength combined with a closeness to nature make Ursa naturally happy to take up the path of a ranger, though a few learning the paths of a warrior are also not uncommon. The practice of more unnatural magic is almost unheard of by the Ursa, viewing such powers as strange and with a great deal of superstition. Few Ursa train for war, however, most taking up peaceful lifestyles.
Ursa generally mate for life, and usually slowly develop a relationship before dedicating themselves to that person. Ursa only rarely mate outside of their species, but such a coupling has been known to happen on rare occasions. An Ursa is fiercely loyal and protective of his or her mate, however, and quite often tries to keep by the mate's side whenever possible. Ursa also tend to be quite gentle lovers, a surprise considering how large and strong they are.
