. In the primordial beginnings of the druidic order, one of the First elves, Oceiwyn Wicorea, began to follow the Mother and became a druid, eventually releasing her first students into the realm to plant their own groves, the weave was still unexplored and untested. Many druids sought to copy the first grove, fostering plants and spirits they were familiar with in order to achieve the balance that the first teacher had with nature, and they were content in their communion with Tirradyn and all living things. Within those who learned, there were those who also sought to expand the bounds of knowledge and the power of nature. Some attempted to grow their own great trees while others experimented with what flora could bring the spirits more peace.
One such druid, name lost to the annuls of druidic lore, sought out communion with animals to bring them into the balance of the grove. His true name may be forgotten, but here he shall be known by Tarna Ellowisth. Small animals, such as squirrels and mice flourished within the peace and fertility of the druids young grove, but with the strength of the plants expanding, so did the strength of the weave. Pleased with his work, Tarna communed with nature, the plants, the trees, becoming aware enough with the weave to share experiences with the plants and animals of his small grove. Seeing through their eyes and feeling the wind on the leaves, Tarna would spend hours in communion, his senses passing through the weave, unconscious of his own body. As he became changed, so did the animals within his grove. Many animals were comforted and enlightened by the druids shared experiences, and soon allowed him to become one with them, sharing new thoughts and together gaining some semblance of sentience.
During one of these explorations, Tarna became lost within the experiences of a rabbit who dwelled in his grove. Too long did he stay in the mind of the animal, as he was defenseless from a band of mremish bandits who came across the peaceful druid. Finding a grove lush with fruit and meat, the mrems greedily stole all the bounties of nature and slew the druid where he meditated. Cut off from his original body, Tarna was trapped within the rabbits conscious, sharing the mind and body as a disconnected spirit. The soul of humans are strong, though, and a great oneness with the weave allowed Tarna to do powerful feats with nature. Restoring himself would be impossible with his grove damaged so, but with what power still resonated in the grove, he could alter his form to that somewhat human-like form.
From this, Tarna became the first versine, drawing from fauna his form, from humanity his mind, and from nature his power. He found that many of the small creatures that survived the sacking of his grove, and the fruit trees still bared life. Weakened, his grove survived, and he returned to his communion with nature, although more guarded than before. Having a special bond with the rabbits from his spirit mingling with them, other rabbits were attracted to the grove. Being gracious, he shared his spirit and power with them, creating many other of his kind. Although his spirit divided and his grove weakened, they were far smaller and weaker in the kinship of nature than he, they still retained some of the spark for druidic connection with the weave.
So generous was Tarna Elloswith to the rabbits, granting dozens of versine creation, that he gave his spirit to nature, and after the last of the first breed were given life, his body turned to a red maple as his spirit was dispersed across all of the first versine. There, the kin paid homage to their creator by building their homes to surround the remains of his grove. The earliest versine created became druids, having shared many hours learning from Tarna, and made the Red Maple his body left behind as the center of their own groves, each taking seedlings from the tree to spread into more warrens as their race ventured out into the realm.
Important Individuals:
Tarna Elloswith
The first vesrine. Originally a human druid, his spirit became one with a rabbit. After he dispersed throughout all of the first breed, he transformed into a Maple Tree were he grows in the grove in the middle of the village for his name.
Valanier Thorn Fist
A rare example of a vesrine warlord. With a militia band of farmers and craftsman, Valanier drove the mremish people out of Tu-Lips to make a place for his people. Although the mremish population of the island was eradicated, few vesrine were alive or willing to follow Valanier after the genocide. He was exiled from his race when the island was abandoned to the wilds. Valanier was thought to have start a mercenary group and then died separated from his people. Thorn Fist is used as a tale to inspire young vesrine to be pacifist, unless they want to become like him.
Ahnka Noresh
A Mayor of a warren, she laid out the history of the warrens and divised the structure of how warrens should be governed. She's often cited as laying the foundation for warrens and as such often has some depiction, or her writings, in mayoral offices.
Lyssa Windwalker
A vesrine explorer, the leader of the first vesrine colonists to abandon vesrine culture. While looking for a new place to settle for her people, her and some 30 other vesrine came across Qith. Finding the idea of living in cities liberating, she disbanded the colonizers to instead live in Qith. People from her band then spread far to the winds, either continuing to aimlessly travel or settle in cities. Lyssa spent some time in Qith before traveling herself, becoming a member and eventually leading a nomadic tribe. Shes seen by both Orthodox and Warren vesrine as a nuisance and by humanist vesrine as a liberator.
