IRV and Combat

Keywords: IRV, IMMUNITY, RESISTANCE, VULNERABILITY
Category: command
Syntax:
irv

IRV's are Immunities, Resistances, and Vulnerabilities. IRV is a display of the Immunities, Resistances, and Vulnerabilities on the character- this includes racial, spells and armor bonuses.

Immunities: Being immune or resistant to an element does not mean you will not take damage to a weapon ie: bash, slash, etc. However, having 20 in an element means that you are immune to that elements damage.

Resistances: Positive IRV numbers are Resistant to the damage type they are in. For roleplay purposes, 1 Point = 5% resistance. The cap maximum points a player may have in an area 15 which translates to 75% resistance. However, as above, some elements may allow total immunity. If they have a resistance, they also gain a bonus to resisting spells that use that element. They apply a negative to the Spell DC Check per the table below.

Vulnerabilities: Negative IRV numbers are Vulnerable to the damage type they are in. Being vulnerable to an area means that you will take extra damage if that element is used in an attack. If a character has a -5 in iron, they would take an extra 25% damage.If they have a vulnerability, it becomes more difficult to resist spells that use that element. They apply a positive to the Spell DC Check per the table below.

---------------------------------------
-5 = 25% Extra Damage; +2 Spell DC
-1 = 5% Extra Damage
0 = Neutral
1 = 5% Resistance
5 = 25% Resistance; -2 Spell DC
10 = 50% Resistance; -4 Spell DC
15 = 75% Resistance; -6 Spell DC
20 = 100% Immunity; -8 Spell DC
---------------------------------------

Note: Some spells and damage affects may ignore IRV; such as when a MOB uses Wrath.

Note 2: For the purposes of RP Combat, the MAXIMUM IRV allowed is 15 without the use of a spell cast during the combat.

Note 3: If someone is attacked by a weapon where they have a vulnerability (eg. Silver, Iron, Wood), they would first take the slash, pierce or bash damage and see how much BYPASSES the first IRV. They would then heal that amount and apply that damage to the vulnerability IRV. This mimics the fact they have armor and only bypassed damage gets applied to the vulnerability for weapon type damage. This DOES NOT apply to spell damage.
