Black slimes, also referred to as metal slimes even though they are not made of metal are called this due to their unique traits. They are thicker than their counterparts and no longer transparent. They are also less drippy than most slimes because of this. THey tend to make their homes in forges or mines.
Appearance: Black slimes are black and blend into shadows quite well. They are also opaque which makes their core particularly hard to find. Thus you cannot directly attack its core without some means to find it first.
Scent: Black slimes smell of metal, like that scent found at a forge that's just been used.
Taste: Black slimes taste heavily of black licorice for some unknown reason.
Alignment: Black slime gravitates towards good.
Personality Quirks: Black slimes are protectors and often find themselves stepping out of the shadows to help someone before disappearing again.
Special Diet: Black slimes need to ingest metal, raw or refined; it doesn't matter in order to properly regenerate.
Advantages: Hardier slime suited more towards melee combat.
Disadvantages: They have developed a weakness to some magics due to their harder, more physical nature.
Breeding: Black slimes can use the genetic material from non magical races like humans and halflings to produce a new slime core.
Dormant Core Appearance: A black pitted gem resembling an onyx.
