General physical description and biology:
Draconians are proud, dragon-like humanoids. Their key defining features are leathery scales, sharp claws, webbed wings, fangs, and a thick tail used for balance during flight.
Draconians come from a rare pairing of human and dragon many generations ago. Because of that, they share traits of both. They are bipedal, usually stand upright, and are always covered in armor-like scales.
Their claws are sharp enough to be used as weapons, but do not prevent dexterity. They are primarily carnivorous and have sharp teeth made for ripping and tearing. Lost fangs usually regrow.
Their wings are fully functional by late juvenile age. The inner wing webbing is not protected by scales, so it is often kept folded and guarded when not in use. Small tears heal quickly, but severe loss of webbing may leave a Draconian unable to fly.
Draconians are egg layers and will protect their eggs until hatching.
Basic personality:
Draconians are often described as proud, arrogant, and intense. Many consider themselves greater than other races because of their dragon heritage. They especially despise humans, whom they often blame for the Draconian race diverging from its dragon ancestors.
A Draconian can choose to be different, but most are creatures of pride. They are strongly shaped by conformity and usually defend the culture they are born into with force.
Origin and lore:
Draconians descend from a rare pairing of human and dragon many generations ago. Depending on how close their ancestry is to their dragon forefather, they may appear more human-like or more dragon-like.
Naming convention:
Draconians take pride in their Houses and family names. They often use family names in the style of dragons.
Preferred habitat:
Cities and places of honor. Draconians are war-like, but they also take pride in civilization.
Society structure:
Draconian society is war-like, militant, and hierarchical. In Dhurza, the throne stands above all, followed by the empire, the military, and the Houses. Draconians value honor, military strength, naval power, and the ability to rise through skill.
